Melissa’s pole journey began ten years ago when she took her first pole dance fitness class. It was love at first spin! In addition to running the studio and teaching (and taking care of two kids!), Melissa continues to attend classes herself on a regular basis and has taken a number of workshops with some of her favorite pole performers. Melissa has performed in a variety of showcases, served as a judge for both local and regional competitions, and competed in numerous competitions including:
- East Meets West’s Tri-Pole Competition in Hollywood, CA (3rd Place, Spinster division)
- Pole Sport Organization’s Atlantic Pole Championship in Herndon, VA (1st place, Beginner Lyra)
- Pole Sport Organization’s Southern Pole Championship in Atlanta, GA (3rd place, Level 4, Dramatic)
Although she enjoys performing, Melissa’s true passion is teaching – she loves helping her students master new moves and encouraging women to embrace their sexy sides. Prior opening Aradia Fitness NOVA, Melissa managed another local pole dance studio for several years.
When she is not at the studio, you will find Mel on a paddle board somewhere, or at the stable with her teenage daughter.
Christina, a lifelong athlete and former scratch golfer (true story!) fell in love with pole dancing after her first pole class in 2008. Since then it has become a true passion which has led her to explore other forms of aerial art such as Silks and Lyra. In addition to learning new tricks and spins, Christina loves the bond shared between students in class and has made some amazing friends on her pole journey. Christina’s goal is to help students feel stronger and more confident every time they leave the studio. She is motivated by her students every day and looks forward to sharing the excitement of their pole journey with them! In 2015, Christina competed in Pole Sport Organization’s Atlantic Championship where she placed second in Intermediate Lyra.
When she is not at the studio, Christina (a dog lover and the proud mother of two fur babies!) is very active with pet adoptions.
Born in England, Carolyn started ballet at the age of three and went on to a school of the arts at age 12. She received a three year teaching degree from London College of Dance and has been teaching ballet and choreographing for over 20 years. In 2008, Carolyn decided to try something a little bit different…pole dancing! Even though it was a change from ballet, Carolyn loved the movement and expression of pole dancing and has been taking classes ever since. She especially loves the camaraderie with the other women in class, and SPINNING! Carolyn began teaching pole dance since 2011 and is looking forward to sharing her love of dance with the ladies of Aradia Fitness NOVA. As the instructor of our very popular Ballet Buns Barre class, Carolyn is Aradia Famous for her “Nightly Specials”!
Stephanie started pole fitness classes over four years ago and since, her life has changed in such an amazing way. Her love of dance was re-kindled from childhood, where she spent most of her time in a dance studio or outside doing gymnastics and climbing trees. In class, Stephanie found she could express herself sensually through dance without judgment and without fear; for an hour, she could forget all the daily stresses of life and let go. The women with whom Stephanie has taken class, and later taught, all share a bond – their passion for physical expression and the camaraderie that pole fitness cultivates. It’s these women that motivate Steph to give her all as an instructor to provide a FUN, sexy (very sexy!), and supportive environment.
Katie, an IT professional and mother of three, discovered pole dancing in 2009. A long time fitness enthusiast, she was curious about pole dance fitness…could pole dancing REALLY be a workout?! After her first introductory class, Katie quickly signed up for more lessons and found that pole dancing had SO much to offer. Besides being a great addition to her regular boot – camp classes, pole dancing helped Katie feel feminine and sexy! Katie is thrilled to be a part of Aradia Fitness NOVA and looks forward to bringing pole dancing into the lives of women in Northern Virginia
